Las Cazapixanes - Mayab Mool

A group of friends gather to start a new business in which they will try to contact the dead through the Ouija board. Everything will get out of control when Doña Soco, a mysterious village lady, arrives to request the services of Suncha, Meche, and Maruch to meet again with Casilda, a mute woman who disappeared days before.
 
Throughout the play, we see how the communities prepare to receive their beloved dead during the Hanal Pixán season.

Dziu Bird

One afternoon, two farmers decide to revive their grandmothers' customs and leave an offering for the aluxes; they need their help taking care of the crops. While the pozole is being cooked, they remember an old story from the Mayab: the Dziú bird. With cooking utensils, they will retell that story to each other; this way, they can remember the old teachings of their ancestors and make sure that the aluxes come to the call.

Inspired by José Guadalupe Posada's iconic engraving, each act is an ode to the Mexican tradition, where music, puppets, and lyrics intertwine to celebrate the memory of those who have passed away. Prepare to be thrilled and smile as you relive the essence of the Day of the Dead and the spirit of the great Fandango. In the life of the dead, there is a celebration that no one wants to miss, the death better known as the Catrina, the peasant, the worker, the musicians, the shoemaker, the dancers, and the singers all alike, leaving their chambers with singular and peculiar joy because the celebration is about to start.

Do fish sleep? - Ánima Escénica

This is a play that tells the story of a little girl's loss and grieving process. It is a piece about death and how beautiful it is to live. Jette is ten years old and has many questions that her father cannot always answer. She tells us how her life has been since Emil, her younger brother, got ill. Emil is no more, and Jette has painted black clouds of sadness and anger, but those clouds will soon be white again.

Uxmal, a Mayan city whose name means "the city thrice built," has given rise to many ancient tales and legends. One of the best known is the legend of the Dwarf of Uxmal, a mysterious dwarf, the son of an old divine banished by the king, who overcomes all the intelligence tests to which the cruel ruler of Uxmal subjects him. The last and most challenging test of all consists of competing with the king and enduring the breaking of a hundred coyoles on his head.

Chonchita la Huay Keken, A Night of Legends - Magia Escénica

Conchita a skeptic of the supernatural, loves the show "Los tuchos del Mayab" because of the announcer's voice. On Hanal Pixán, her family prepares the house for the Day of the Dead, but she refrains. After eating a whole pot of lentil stew for dinner, she falls into a deep sleep under a ceiba tree. Between dreams and nightmares, where beings from Mayan legends teach her lessons with Yucatecan humor, Conchita learns to respect the traditions and customs of Hanal Pixán.

Death doesn't scare me - Susana Alexander

The show comprises poetry, stories, and prose texts focusing on death from a Nahuatl poem through the poetry of Jorge Manrique and Santa Teresa de Jesus, intermingling all this with Mexican corridos, which always call and invoke death. Tales and a legend culminate all this death allegory with poems by Jaime Sabines, Pedro Garfias, Elías Nandino, Dante Medina, and Margarita Michelena.

Maya Paax Señor

The ritual of the 7 lords - Xipe Totek

The frescoes of the temple of the descending gods in Tulum inspired it. It narrates the rituals and ceremonies around (the first fruits), the first corn harvest, and balché, a sacred drink. It tells passages and scenes where priests, priestesses, and nobles dressed as the gods that descended by the offering that men gave through a ceremonial ritual are observed.

The game of life and death - Artistas de Xcaret

A recreation of the Mayan ball game, Pok ta'pok, about the myth of the Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the ancient Quiché Maya in which the divine twins, Ixbalanqué and Hunajpú, play ball to confront the stark lords of death in Xibalbá. The ball game court will be transformed, giving life to the dark underworld to recreate the struggle of opposites, good and evil, light and darkness. It is a spectacle of music, dance, and theatricality represented by ball players, musicians, and dancers from Xcaret Park.
